Big Apple Car Shipping is an auto transport broker licensed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and based in New York State. We arrange open and enclosed car shipping from anywhere in New York to all fifty states, and from anywhere in the country back to New York. Our dispatch team works out of thirteen local offices: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Yonkers, Hempstead, North Hempstead, Babylon, Islip, Brookhaven, Albany, Schenectady, Buffalo and Hamburg.
What a broker does, and why you want one that knows New York
Almost every car shipped in the United States is moved by a small, independent carrier: a driver who owns one or two trucks and runs a handful of lanes. Brokers like us find the right carrier for your route, vet their authority and insurance, agree the price, and manage the pickup and delivery. The difference between a good broker and a bad one is whether the price you were quoted is a price a real carrier will accept, and whether anyone has thought about how a 75-foot truck gets to your street.
That second part is where being from here matters. Every parkway in the New York metro bans commercial trucks. Half of Manhattan and the Bronx is alternate-side parking. Long Island's canal neighborhoods dead-end at the water, and the Gold Coast's private roads have gates and low branches. Our dispatchers plan pickups around all of that, and they will tell you up front when a meeting point at a station lot or a shopping center is going to work better than your driveway.
How we price
The quote you get from our tool is the all-in price: carrier fee, our fee, fuel, taxes, standard cargo insurance and door-to-door service. We quote at the rate carriers on your lane are actually accepting this week, not a low number designed to win the booking and then creep upward. A small deposit holds your price when a carrier is assigned, and the balance is paid to the driver when your car is delivered and inspected.
How we vet carriers
Before a carrier is assigned to your vehicle we confirm their FMCSA operating authority is active, verify their cargo insurance certificate and limits, and review their safety record and our own history with them. We do this at dispatch, every time, because insurance lapses and authority revocations happen mid-year. If something does not check out, the load goes to someone else.
What you can expect from us
- An exact price in about a minute, and a human on the phone seven days a week at every office.
- One coordinator from booking to delivery, with a direct number.
- A pickup window agreed in advance, and a driver who calls 12 to 24 hours before arriving.
- An inspection and bill of lading at both ends, with photos we encourage you to take as well.
- Straight answers when something goes sideways. Trucks break down and weather closes passes; when that happens you will hear it from us first, with a new date.
Who we ship for
Snowbirds heading between Long Island or Westchester and Florida each season. Families relocating to the Carolinas, Georgia, Texas and Arizona. Students at SUNY, CUNY, Hofstra, Stony Brook, UB and Union. Service members moving between Fort Drum, West Point, Fort Hamilton and bases across the country. Collectors on the North Shore and in Scarsdale who ship enclosed. Buyers who found the right car in another state and want it delivered to their door. If it has wheels and a destination, we can probably move it.
